Description
The Harry Butler Lecture Series, 'In the Wild West'
A program of lectures by WA Museum scientists and associates
Presenter: Dr Moya Smith, Senior Curator, Anthropology, WA Museum
Aboriginal peoples depended heavily on fish caught in stone-wall fish traps in WA. Today, stone-wall fishtraps are still visible, a tangible reminder of their previous cultural and economic significance, and a significant archaeological element in the heritage landscape.
Join Dr Moya Smith as she examines what relevance traditional ecological knowledge on fishtraps might have for biodiversity, and their role in the lives of traditional owners education, eco-tourism, and issues of identity, embedded in understandings from the past.
